STYLE INSPIRATION: ALEXA CHUNG @ LFW

Forever our ultimate style crush, Alexa Chung is, and always has been, the embodiment of "the dream." Her casual yet chic and statement style never fails to inspire me and, as expected, she has not disappointed this year at LFW. I have followed (and loved) every single one of her looks from the week, and thought I'd share some of them with you. She's clearly loving the high necks this season (who isn't?), and her retro inspired style is so wearable and a great source of inspiration.

(This yellow turtleneck/leopard print skirt look is my personal favourite!)

ORLA KEILY X CLARKS SHOES

After seeing shots from their AW15 presentation All Quiet in the Library yesterday (it was such a beautiful show, definitely the highlight of the things I've seen from LFW so far), my attention was drawn to the fact that Orla Keily and Clarks shoes have collaborated again! I'm so excited about this because I absolutely adore Orla Keily's designs and Clarks are one of my all time favourite shoe brands. It's a match made in heaven!

This season's pairs are really 60s/70s inspired and so are totally on trend. They've struck a great balance between stament brown/navy block heels and platforms, and cute understated pastel t-bar sandals. There's a definite floral/pastel theme going on this season and all of the pairs are just so quirky and fun. Admittedly, the shoes are slightly on the pricey side but I think you really do get what you pay for quality-wise with Clarks. Besides, these pairs are so unique and you won't get anything like them anywhere else! I love how they've been styled in Clarks' feature with colourful printed midi skirts and shorts, and I'm feeling so inspired by the whole collection (watch the video of their SS15 show, it's amazing.) I've picked out some of my favourite designs (it was almost impossible - there are so many more I love!):

Orla Betty in Navy - £130, Orla Beatrice in Cream - £140, Orla Betty in Tan - £130

Orla Bibi in Pink - £120, Orla Blanche in Pink Floral - £120, Orla Bobbie in Pale Blue - £120

Which pair is your favourite? Shop the collection here.

BREAK THE RULES

Pink Lip Print Crop Top - River Island (£28)
Pink Lip Print Woven Mini Skirt - River Island (£30)
KG by Kurt Geiger Heidi Stars Platform Heeled Sandals - ASOS (£120 £84)
ASOS Zip Top with Ears Clutch Bag - ASOS (£30)

As much as I love browsing through blogs featuring really chic, minimal outfits, it would be a lie if I said I didn't have a soft spot for some of the more "out-there" looks, too. I have recently been so inspired by one of my favourite bloggers, Lucy Rance at Lulutrixabelle. She is an absolute queen and her style is amazing. I think it's great to play with patterns and textures and I really want to branch out and get some more crazy clothing pieces.  I feel like it's all about being confident and not letting the clothes "wear you". I'm also really inspired by Charli XCX (I did a blog post featuring her style a while ago), whose 90's/glam look is so fun and so sassy.

FLORENCE + THE MACHINE ARE BACK

Can we please talk about Florence Welch? I can't contain my excitement for her new album any longer. "How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful" is set for release on June 1st and I'm not sure my heart can take it. With the release of the video for her new single yesterday, I realised that it's been nearly four years since Florence's last album came out, which makes me feel very, very old (and quite reflective, too.).

I've been inspired by both Florence's sound and style since I first discovered her back in the dark age that was 2009 (I can't even really remember those times, either.) She has always been so unique and I would definitely call her iconic in her own right. The original "man repeller",  her 70's inspired boho looks never fail to inspire me, and this season she's more on trend than ever! (Can we please take in her hair and make up in this look for a second?!)

The video for her new single "What Kind of Man" is amazing. I think we're all in agreement that it's kind of confusing (I'm not sure anyone can figure out exactly what's going on), but I love the aesthetics and concepts. As for the song itself, she does not disappoint. Her vocals are as powerful and on point as ever, and she's still managing to maintain her signature ethereal quality. Listen and watch for yourself:

A lot has changed for me since her last album release in 2011, and it sounds incredibly cliche, but her music has been with me through both a lot of sh*t and a lot of good times. She really has been a huge part of my life. So thanks, Flo.

Do you love her as much as I do?

OUTFIT OF THE DAY: CAT PRINT AND PASTEL

LILAC FLUFFY JUMPER - TESCO
CAT PRINT DRESS - H&M
PALE PINK RUCKSACK - TKMAXX
RIVER ISLAND CHUNKY ZIP FRONT ANKLE BOOTS - ASOS (£40)
Please excuse the dodgy quality and lighting of these photos - taking blog photos in my uni room is never the dream! Today I thought I'd have a bit of fun and play with colour, texture and print, because why not? I normally wear the same thing and the same colours all the time (i.e I look like I'm going to a funeral), so I thought it would make a nice change to get a little bit more creative. I was given this adorable button up cat print dress by my flatmate last year and I have loved it ever since. I'm a huge cat lover so anything with cats on makes me instantly happy. I usually pair it with a black jumper on colder days, but I thought I'd dig out this pastel fluffy jumper to make it a bit more interesting. I think these chunky boots from River Island tone down the cutesy-ness of this outfit a bit (plus they're the only heeled boots I have at uni, sigh). I even decided to wear bright pink lipstick instead of my usual purple/red. I don't know what came over me! Normal service will resume shortly.

NEW MUSIC LOVE: OH WONDER

Oh Wonder are a singer/songwriter duo from London who I recently discovered through BBC introducing. I first heard "Body Gold" on Fearne Cotton's Radio 1 show a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love straight away. It's so addictive and almost hypnotising. They're what I imagine the love child (did I really just use the term love child?) of The XX, Daughter, James Blake and London Grammar to sound like, so if you're into that kind of sound then don't hesitate to give them a listen! Their music is super chilled, a little bit electro and kind of jazzy in places. I've not stopped playing it on repeat for the past week or so. My other favourite of theirs is "The Rain", it's so mellow and I could just listen forever. I'm so glad to have found a new band that I love this much! Oh Wonder are releasing a song every month for the rest of the year, so we're definitely going to be hearing a lot more from them in 2015.

Have you found any new artists recently?

BEAUTY INSPIRATION: RED EYESHADOW

Okay, so it's a bit of a controversial one, but I absolutely love how red eye make up looks. I'm not sure where this has come from and I've not been brave enough to try it, but I reckon it would be reasonably easy to tone it down for a daytime look.

What do you think?
